Cave in a Cube

Year: 2025

The intention behind this cube design is to display the different textures that various tools and machines can create on wood surfaces. The exterior is a perfectly smooth plane made with a table saw, while the interior “cave” was carved using tools such as wood carving knives and a Foredom. The textures created by these tools become richer and more contrasting due to the influence of the wood grains. The impact of the grain direction is visualized through shaping a free-form surface.
